Whether you have a small quarter acre panfish pond for the kids or a 30-acre trophy bass lake that grows monsters, adding aeration can benefit you immensely. In a nutshell, aeration provides a constant source of dissolved oxygen (DO) throughout the water column that ensures your fish survive in trying conditions (think droughts and hot temperatures), mitigate bacterial load, and improve overall pond aesthetics.
There are a multitude of options available to the consumer, and sometimes choosing the right aeration system can feel a bit overwhelming. Here at Henneke Fish, we offer both electric aeration and solar aeration options to cater to our whole customer base. The two companies we are partnered with, Kasco Marine and LWE Solar, offer quality products to suit any need.
Kasco Marine’s most popular aeration system is a classic electric diffused air system, Robustaire, which features a dual-loop diffuser that sits at the bottom of a pond and aerates throughout the entire water column (see below).
This system comes complete with the diffuser, weighted air hose, compressor, and housing. Multiple diffuser options are available for larger bodies of water as well. LWE Solar offers a solar version of this same bottom-diffuser option, which includes a solar panel in addition to the other components (see top right). These systems are the simplest and most economical way to aerate your pond, but do not provide much in the way of aesthetics
…but fountains sure do! While LWE Solar does not have a fountain option that we offer, Kasco Marine has two series that are sure to dress up your water. The VFX series is a simple fountain with a classic spray and is ideal to add that extra personal touch to smaller ponds, and the J Series features elaborate spray options and larger horsepower capacity. Both series have the options to add solid or multicolor light kits as well! Check them out below:
The VFX series features a 2 year warranty on ½,¾, and 1 HP units and a 3 year warranty on 2 and 5 HP units.
The J Series fountains have extended warranty periods based on HP and feature premium nozzle options for different spray patterns.
