If you’ve ever visited our hatchery in the springtime, you may have heard us mention “Fish Days”. If that’s the case, you’ve also probably found yourself thinking, “What the heck are they talking about?” We hope this blog post will help shed some light on these special events!
Fish Days are hosted marketing events in which we partner with multiple feed stores and soil & water conservation districts to sell baitfish and fingerling gamefish. Once we release the schedule (we’ve attached it below, too!) the host locations begin collecting pre-orders from customers in their area. After much anticipation and excitement, the Fish Day arrives!
On the day of the Fish Day, we take great care in processing orders, making labelled boxes, and loading some happy, healthy fish to make the journey to the host location. Once the crew arrives, we set up our tables, get our nets and buckets at the ready, and the magic begins to happen! As customers arrive during the scheduled pickup time, we bag and box their fish, get their vehicle loaded up, and get them checked out.
Ordering at Fish Days is a great option for our customers that live too far away to swing by the hatchery for a pickup, but don’t have a large enough order to constitute a delivery. We try our very best to make sure our host locations are spread out across several regions of Texas to make Henneke Fish Hatchery fish even more accessible.
Our most popular species are offered at Fish Days, including Fathead Minnows, Golden Shiners, Coppernose Bluegill, Redear Sunfish, Hybrid Catfish, F-1 Largemouth Bass, and Hybrid Perch. While suggested stocking rates are always found on the order forms, our crew can answer any and every question you may have about our fish as well! Customers are also more than welcome to give the hatchery a call with questions prior to the Fish Day.
